New Car

OK, so it’s official, i have a new car. After about 4 months of searching i have finally gotten a new ride just in time for the Oregon Spring/Summer. Sprummer has arrived and i will be thoroughly enjoying my new to me Infiniti G35. I really wanted the coupe but it was a little bit out of my price range, so i settled on a 2004 G35 Sedan with 47,000 miles(if you could even call it a settle). First a little back track:

For the longest time, I wanted a 2000-2002 4runner, but i searched for about 3 and a half months but never did find, one with the right options and mileage, it seemed like all of them had over 150,000 miles, which is normal, but I didn’t want to settle for that as I wanted this car to last me 5-10 yrs. I did find one 4runner listed on craigslist about 2 months ago and had thought i found a jewel. The price was right and it had all the options I wanted and had only 80,000 miles. It was a 2001 Limited 4runner with 22″ rims, 2 12″ subs and an in dash DVD player. It was just like I wanted, so I went up to Portland to check it out and took it for a test drive and it ran beautifully so i decided to buy it impulsively so I drove it home and it was great, until later that week when we took the title in to get my loan and looked at the title and it was salvaged. So, I was heartbroken, I had the car of my dreams taken from me without warning. I was pissed we were never informed of the salvaged title by stupid Mohammed Aladdin-Ali Baba that sold it to us but was still upset that i didn’t have my car.So for all you buying a car, run a Carfax and get it inspected by a trusted mechanic.

So I spent two more months looking for another 4runner, but never could find one, so I decided to look into another option. I didn’t know what I wanted but Ive always wanted a little sporty car that can be impressive on the street as well on the track, while still serving as a daily driver that i can benefit from more than strictly performance and still be impressive aesthetically. As with everything I buy, whether it be a new kind of laundry detergent or a new car, I research as much as I can before I make a purchase. So I scoured the web in search of a new car that was in my price range, weighing the pros and cons.  I just happened to luckily stumble upon the Infiniti G35 on a forum the I frequently visit. Honestly, even though I work in the auto industry, I had never even heard of the G35 until I saw it on line about a month ago. I never, ever would have imagined Infiniti putting out a performance car, but boy was I wrong.

The G35 has only been in production since 2003 and slipped past my radar and I’m so glad I found out about this car. The 2004 G35 Coupe produces 280 HP and can flat out fly. Because the coupe is a little more expensive, I decided to look into the sedan expecting it to be a little cheaper but in turn lose power to complement the grocery moms I expected to be driving them, but I was surprised that it still produced 260 HP and can go from 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. I decided to check craigslist to see if I could find any in Eugene, and i was lucky to find one in Eugene in my price range. The only sedans I would consider would be black or white. I don’t know why, but none of the other colors appeal to me and they just look a lot nicer and more luxurious. The one i found was a beautiful Ivory Pearl White. Its got a hint of blue, orange, and metal flake which looks unique and incredible. So I arranged to meet and look at the car(which has a whole nother story attached to it which is quite funny and if you know me you know what I’m talking about, but if you want to know you can ask me). One thing led to another and the car is officially mine, so I will be rolling in style this summer. I cant wait to detail this car to the extreme, Ive never been more excited to wash and wax a car in my life. I also cant wait to start modding this thing. In the future i plan to and new wheels and tires, possibly debadge the rear, paint the grill and add a touchscreen DVD player, Navigation and Ipod interface head unit. Who knows, maybe later on ill add new headers, exhaust and really try and boost the HP up a little.

So check back in within the next few weeks and i will be adding new pictures of before and after shots of my detailing, modding, and just general driving shots. I am stoked to get this blog back up and running, and this is the perfect event to do it, as I have been going through some slow times, but this fills the void that is there and I am excited to begin this project and just work on starting my life with the things and people that I love the most. So thank you mom and dad for being patient, understanding and doing everything you guys could do to get this rolling(no pun intended). The Pearl Jet is here.
